- weak immunity to diseases and pests.
Preparation of planting material and soil
Favorable time for planting raspberries of the Golden Autumn variety - September and October... Then the seedlings take root and yield a crop next year. The shoots of the seedlings must be straight and free from damage.
Roots should not have dried out areas... When buying seedlings with an open root system, that is, freshly dug, pay attention that the root system is not overdried and then moistened. These seedlings will die. Only if, after digging and pruning, the root system of the seedling is dipped into a clay mash of the consistency of sour cream, and then put in bundles in plastic bags and stored in a cool place, the survival rate of seedlings is high.
Seedlings with a closed root system, i.e. laid in a drainage container, even with thin and weak stems take root better... White young roots should stick out from the holes. If the seedling is taken out of the container, and the earthen lump, in which the roots are hidden, is dense, does not fall apart, with small weeds, this indicates that the seedling was grown in this container and was not transplanted.
Important! Raspberry seedlings are not bought or planted during the growing season (spring and summer), they may not take root.
On the site where it is planned to plant the Golden Autumn, the earth is dug up, the weeds are removed... 2 buckets of humus and 300 g of complex mineral fertilizers, which include nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium, are applied per 1 m². The acidic soil is limed. The variety loves light, well-fertilized, fertile soil.
Landing technology
Saplings with an open root system are dipped in water for 2-3 days and a root growth stimulator is added, and with a closed one poured abundantly with water and carefully removed from the container.
Golden autumn takes root better and bears fruit in sunny areas and slightly moist soils.... Before planting, it is important to ensure that the groundwater flows deeper than 1 m from the roots of the shrub. Raspberries grow best near a wall of a house or a fence - there are no drafts and winds that she does not like.
Good predecessors - mustard, lupine, rye and peas. The bad ones are potatoes, tomatoes and peppers.
For group planting, dig a hole and plant four bushes per 1 m²... When planting in rows, 1 bush is planted in a hole at a distance of 70 cm, 100-120 cm are left between the rows. If the seedling is tall, it is pruned at a height of two or three buds. Sprinkle shoots, compact the soil and water (5 liters of water per plant), then mulch with peat.
Important! The seedling is cut on the same surface with the ground. In this case, it is mulched with humus and soil.
Growing and care
Any variety of raspberries requires careful care, which consists of pruning, watering, transplanting, thinning, loosening, feeding, pre-winter processing and protection from pests.
Watering
In dry conditions, the Golden Autumn variety reduces yields: berries dry, do not grow, fall off. The soil under the plants must be kept moist at all times. However, you cannot pour water in excess, otherwise the roots will rot.
Water the soil with warm water so that it becomes moist 30 cm deep... Watering frequency - once a week. If there is no rain, the frequency of watering is increased.
Pruning
Trimming required two per year... The first is in the spring, during the period of kidney formation, the second - in the fall, before the first frost. Spring pruning relieves the bush of frozen and damaged branches. The procedure is performed when the kidneys are already swollen. All branches that do not have buds are cut off - they are lifeless.
In the middle of autumn, after harvesting, the bushes that have reached the age of two are shortened... Leave 5-7 cm from ground level. Weak, thin branches and young growth are removed, leaving 5-6 large shoots. If the raspberries are not cut in the fall, the bushes will not grow.
Council. Pruning is done with a special garden pruner so as not to damage the branches.
Transplant and thinning
Golden autumn tolerates transplanting well... It produces it simultaneously with thinning, which leaves 8-9 healthy shoots per 1 m². The rest are removed or transplanted to another location. A raspberry plant is completely transplanted every 10 years in early spring or autumn.
Loosening
The first loosening is carried out in the spring before the swelling of the buds... Loosens the soil to a depth of 8 cm, while removing weeds. The roots are saturated with oxygen, and the shoots grow quickly. The signal that loosening is required is a dry crust on the soil surface under the bush.
Top dressing
If all the recommendations are followed during planting, the plant will have enough nutrients for two seasons.... Organic is added from the third. An aqueous solution of mullein in a ratio of 1:10 is used 2-3 times per season in the phase of active growth.
Mineral fertilizers, for example, "Nitroammofosku", are applied in the spring after the snow melts. In the autumn time raspberries are fed phosphorus and potash fertilizers.
Shelter for the winter
In the northern regions of Russia, where frosts in winter are kept within the range of -22 ... -30 ° С, the bushes of the Golden Autumn cover. If trimming was not carried out, they are bent to the ground and fixed with metal rods.... Raspberries are covered with non-woven material, the roots are covered with sawdust, hay or leaves.
Protection against diseases and pests
Golden Autumn has low immunity to diseases and pests, therefore, preventive treatment of the bushes in the spring is required, until the buds have blossomed. The second and third spraying is carried out before setting the berries.
Important! During flowering, plants cannot be treated with chemicals. Prevention is carried out before flowering begins or postponed for a period after its completion.
Preparations for processing this class must have insecticidal (fighting insect pests), fungicidal (antifungal) and acaricidal (against mites) action.
This variety is attacked by all three types of pathogens.
Comprehensive shrub protection | Insecticidal preparations for raspberries | Fungicidal preparations for raspberries | Medicines for fighting ticks |
"Brunka", "Oleocobrite", "Sulfazine" | "Operkot", "Inva-Vir", "Calypso", "Karate", "Kung-Fu" | "Fundazol", "Quadris", "Switch", "Topsin M", "Fital" | "Ortus", "Omite", "Taurus"

Golden autumn is less exposed to diseases and pests, if the site for planting is chosen correctly and the correct care of the plant is provided.
